WHY DO WE KEEP EATING JUNK?

This is a BIG QUESTION. Why do you eat junk foods when you know that it is not healthy & will cause weight gain? We all know the answer: BECAUSE IT TASTES GOOD. DID YOU KNOW? The sugar & fat in junk food causes a JUNK FOOD ADDICTION. Now that you know the truth will you be a little more careful? Brain chemicals similar to those that activate with drug use can make us crave the “bad stuff”. You’ll need to detox from chocolate, sugary & salty snacks. The best way to do that is to keep it out of your house and away from the office. You will need a little time away from your favorite junk foods before this becomes easier. The good news is that you can get rid of the cravings. Remember: If it is not available, you can’t see, smell or touch it then you will not want it.

Ever find yourself getting up from the sofa, wandering through the kitchen looking for something to eat? Of course, you do. What can you do to change this behavior? You must change your environment. Instead of eating while watching TV try jogging in place during each commercial. I have a step bench & get up during commercials & do as many steps as possible. Add some squats to this “commercial break”. If you keep this up you won’t think about those snacks you used to have. Imagine, you could be FREE from bad foods & weight gain. You could be in control.

MORE TIPS: Brush & Floss your teeth right after dinner, chew sugarless gum (this one won’t work for everyone because it makes some people hungry.) I have a sign I give our clients if night eating is an issue for them. It is called: BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION IN A NUTSHELL. I suggest you put a sign on the fridge that says KITCHEN CLOSED and I expect you to heed the advice.

So, the first thing you need to do is DETOX YOUR ENVIRONMENT, get rid of the trash, replace it with

real foods like apples, oranges, berries, yogurt, Laughing Cow cheese, Melba toast, popcorn that you make the old fashioned way with kernels. (Place loose kernels in a paper bag, fold the top down, place in the microwave on the popcorn setting. The result is like air popped popcorn and it’s great. You can spray a little cooking spray and then sprinkle with cinnamon. YUMMY!)

Take a deep breathe, decide which you want more: the chips &/or chocolate, ice cream, brownies, cake, or cookies or do you prefer wearing nice clothes that fit, not being embarrassed about your weight, trying on a bathing suit without tears, feeling pretty or handsome, being proud of yourself, having less heartburn, not having diabetes or sleep apnea.. The choice is yours, my friend. It’s time to actually make a choice…a choice for HEALTH & HAPPINESS.
